The objectives
• Teach the specific aspects of managing companies as well as projects centred on art, culture and cultural tourism.
• Assist the students throughout the process of carrying out cultural projects by providing them with operational expertise.
• Transform the passion for art and culture into a practical and professional approach.
• Develop the skills required to create, execute and accomplish innovative cultural projects.
• Provide the students with a way to carry out cultural events.
• Enable the students to become part of French and international professional networks.
The contents of the programme
The programme emphasizes the management of organisations, projects and events with a strong cultural added value linked to artistic creation or to heritage.
In addition, the programme offers an active approach to learning and to strategically managing projects or events promoting the cultural image and the capacities of a city, region, ancient monument, company or brand to attract tourists.
The programme is made up of courses, lectures, projects and events centred on culture and art, followed by a work placement and the writing of a professional thesis.
It is offered on the Paris campus:
• Full time: 6 months of courses (October – end of March), five days a week. The placement and the professional thesis must be finished by end of December.
The programme is divided into fifteen module (total of 390 hours of courses, lectures, conferences and classes) taught by professionals from the targeted sectors:
- Contracts and copyright (30 hours, in French)
- Legal status and management structure (30 hours, in French)
- Public governance in the culture field (30 hours, in French)
- Cultural production processes, technology and Internet (30 hours, French/English)
- Managing organizations and projects in arts and culture field (30 hours, in French)
- Cultural projects and events conception (30 hours, in French)
- Marketing the arts and culture (30 hours, in French / English)
- Communication, promotion and public relations (30 hours, in French)
- Partnerships, patronizing and fundraising (30 hours, in French / English)
- European and international cultural issues (30 hours, in French / English)
- Budgeting and financing in arts and culture organisations (30 hours, in French)
- Structures, strategies and business in the culture and media field (30 hours, in French)
- Methodology and Internship coaching (15 hours, in French)
- English for the arts and culture (30 hours, in English)
- Professional development and individual potential (15 hours, in French)
In addition to these courses, students have to do individual practical work, projects and missions (in small teams).
The job opportunities
The programme prepares students for managerial posts (project manager, production managers, education manager, artistic manager…) in the fields of:
- performing arts (theatre, dance, music, performing arts centres),
- heritage and visual arts (museums, exhibitions, galleries, historical or archeological sites,…)
- creative and cultural industries (publishing, architecture, video games,…)
The admission process
To be eligible, the applicant must hold the equivalent of a Master’s degree or the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree along with at least three years of significant work experience.
The French Conference of the Grandes Écoles will, as an exception, authorise a student with a Bachelor’s degree but no professional experience to enrol in the programme if he or she has a noteworthy professional project.
Pre-selection is carried out based on applications. The application is available from February. If the applicant is accepted to admission phase he/she will be invited to elaborate a memorandum (10 pages partly in French and in English). Final selection will take place with an interview with a representative of the programme.
Tuition fees
• 8,000 euros for students from the European Union,
• 10,000 euros for students from countries outside the European Union,
• 12,000 euros for tuition fees paid by a company.
