Isabelle Demay, Director of the Corporate Relations Department went to Togo in the context of a solidarity mission from 12 to 28 February 2009 for a very concrete application of Microfinance. Her mission was to give support to the creation of a microcredit loan for FAGAD, in a farming village (Adeta) 150 km north of Lome. The project was to create an IMF (Institution of Micro-Finance), which grants micro-loans to women entrepreneurs. To ensure continuation of this project, four first-year students took over and created the association Alterr’egaux in April 2009. The project of Emilie Braye, Mathilde Chauvat, Camille Boussin and Marie Nivel generated considerable encouragement and generosity; they were able to collect more than 6,000 Euros in just a few weeks, .
Thanks to this money, they were able to go to Togo at the beginning of June to continue the mission with a triple objective: to grant loans, to make the women autonomous by transferring knowledge and know-how, and to collect data from their experience to feed into the research in Micro-Finance at the School. To carry out this mission, they had to recruit a local accountant, who will assure continuation of the project and training of these women entrepreneurs.
