The Wine Management InstituteThe Wine Management Institute was created in 2009 and focuses on three main axes:

  • entrepreneurship

Twenty-two years of expertise in management in the wine industry laid the foundations for the creation of this Institute.


The historical context for the creation of the Wine Management Institute

The wine industry has been a key sector for Burgundy School of Business in Dijon since the school was created in 1899.

1899: To accompany the development of international trade in wine, Burgundy wine professionals wanted to establish a business school in Dijon offering courses in the wine trade. The courses taught wine making skills as well as commerce.

1988: To meet the demand of companies and more especially companies in the Burgundy region, 3 specialised Master’s degrees in key local sectors were created: wine, pharmaceuticals and culture.

1991: The first graduating class of students with a specialised Master’s degree in the wine & spirits industry.

2009: After having trained more than 390 executives and entrepreneurs in the wine sector, and developing a continuing education activity for companies, research and entrepreneurship, the Burgundy School of Business decided to structure and develop the services provided.
