The first International "Corporate Social Responsibility and Innovation" Symposium held in Dijon

6th and 7th April 2011, organised by the Corporate Social Responsibility Chair and EABIS, in partnership with La Poste


In the context of the Sustainable Development Week, which took place from 1st to 7th April 2011, the Academy for Business in Society (EABIS) along with the Corporate Social Responsibility Chair of Groupe ESC Dijon Bourgogne, organised an international symposium in Dijon on the subject of "Corporate Social Responsibility and Innovation". La Poste in Burgundy was the principal partner of this large-scale event, which took place at Burgundy School of Business. On 6th and 7th April, in the form of key-note addresses and workshops, international researchers and company directors discussed innovation as a motive for businesses' contribution to sustainable development.

More than 50 research papers were presented during the sessions. The Symposium allowed discussion and reflection on the advancement of research and the sharing of good practices in the area of corporate social responsibility, bringing together academic specialists and business leaders from around the world.

Program highlights:

·         Keynote address 1: The challenges of sustainable development: driving force for innovation (How do multinationals apply the tendencies and pressures of their global environment to their strategic approach and in decision-making?) with Walid Malouf (Clinton Foundation) and David Bevan, EABIS and Royal Holloway, University of London)…


·         Keynote address 2: The integration of corporate social responsibility into the strategies of a company (How can we construct a corporate social responsibility strategy? How can we make a development strategy and an affirmed involvement in corporate social responsibility, coexist?) with Georges Lefebvre (Director of the Group La Poste) and Luis Torras (Academic dean, EADA – Escuela de Alta Direccion y Administracion, Barcelona).

·         Keynote address 3: Organisational innovation for sustainable value creation (How do companies engage themselves to profit the advances of sustainable development, in order to create and put in place new business models, processes and technologies? How can we understand and measure the impact on the financial and social performance on a company, in addition to the benefits for the principal interested parties?) with Jacques Spelkens (GDF Suez) Alexandra Stubbins (Ashridge Consulting)


·         Keynote address 4: Managing innovation and implications for executive development (How do organisations learn from their innovation processes and from relative change to sustainable development? How can this new knowledge be used in the management of executives and management?) , with Veronica Vecchi and Manuela Brusoni (ASFOR and Landi Renzo Corporate University) and Thomas Osburg, (Intel)
